Veneer Stone
FULL-BED VENEER
Stone that is either naturally formed or split to sizes and shapes appropriate for mortar applications on vertical walls. The “bed depth” or thickness of the stones is generally 3-6”. Varying depths are desirable and create interesting eye appeal. The weight averages 55-60 pounds per square foot, which translates to about 35-45 square feet of coverage per ton.
Full-bed veneer walls are installed over a concrete footing and wall ties are used to secure the stone to the backing surface. Ledge Stone is also commonly used as a landscaping border and can be used in combination with larger stones to form a “dry stack” (mortar-less) wall.
See visuals of some of our stock ledge stones below.
THIN VENEER
All our Thin Stone products are cut from 100% natural quarry stone and each piece is entirely unique. With a “bed-depth” (thickness) of ¾ to 1¼ inches, Thin Stone is light enough to be installed on any masonry-ready wall. Concrete footings are generally unnecessary, and Thin Stone Veneer can be applied where artificial “cultured stone” has been specified for weight reasons. For visual appeal and durability, there is no better lightweight stone product on the market than natural Thin Stone Veneer.
Once installed, it is nearly impossible to distinguish Thin Stone Veneer from traditional veneer stone. Corners are used to give the appearance of a full-bed veneer when wrapping around edges and corners. Matching 90° corners are available for all shapes and colors of our Thin Stone Veneer. Weight averages 13 pounds per square foot.
We carry a wide variety of Thin Veneer products, some of which are portrayed in the gallery below. More options and design ideas are shown on the websites of the primary suppliers of our Thin Stone Veneers:
THIN VENEER LEDGER PANELS
These are trimmed pieces of 100% natural stone adhered to form modular panels, which dramatically ease the installation of a “dry stack” stone veneer. Ledger panels are about 3/4 inch thick and finely calibrated, allowing the installer to butt-join individual units together, thus eliminating the need for grout or mortar between pieces. Specially engineered corner panels make for seamless transitions.
The style is a clean, horizontal pattern ideal for either interior or exterior applications on residential and commercial walls. Available in a selection of textures and colors, each panel is entirely unique in color and texture. The images below capture some a small selection of our ledger panels.
